We’re Back for Term Four!

Today is the first day of Term Four in Victoria, Australia .

It is the last term of school for us before our long summer holidays. When we return to school in February next year, the 2KM and 2KJ students will be in Grade Three!

*********************

It was terrific to hear that everyone in 2KM and 2KJ had a fantastic two week break. Over the holidays many students visited new places, went to the movies, enjoyed bike rides, saw their friends and watched Geelong win the AFL Grand Final!

We have two new students joining us for our final term. Dana is in 2KM and Morgan is in 2KJ.

Dana came from Mandama Primary School, where Mr D (our new principal) used to be the principal! Dana likes playing netball and she enjoys playing in her cubby house and on the trampoline with her younger sister, Lauren.

Morgan came from Nazareth Primary School. Morgan enjoys riding his bike, playing soccer and playing with his brother, Morrison and sister, April.

Here are Morgan and Dana with Leo!

Using Glogster

Over the past two days Miss Jordan and Mrs Morris showed some students how to use Glogster.

Glogster logo

Glogster is an online tool that allows you to make free interactive posters, or “glogs”. The word glog is short for graphical blog.

You can add text, images, photos, audio, video and special effects to create a glog, and finished glogs can be embedded into blogs so you can share them with everyone. Glogster is easy and fun to use!

Here are some glogs we made about our holidays.

July Holiday Fun!

Today, Monday 18th July, is the first day of Term Three here in Victoria, Australia.

Our July holidays went for two weeks and Geelong had some wet, windy and wintery weather!

Luckily Mrs Morris and her husband escaped this weather by heading to Byron Bay in northern New South Wales.

Do you know where Byron Bay is?

Here is a clue. In this photo Mrs Morris is standing in front of a sign that says “Most easterly point of the Australian mainland”.

Maybe you can figure out where Byron Bay would be on this map.

At Byron Bay, Mrs Morris and Nate enjoyed walking and running on the beach, bushwalking, eating delicious food, shopping, reading and relaxing.

Can you guess what these are?

On many of Mrs Morris and Nate’s walks they saw all sorts of flora and fauna. Flora means plants and fauna means wildlife or animals.

Leave a comment if you know what these animals are!

Dinosaur Food

This term, 2KM and 2KJ will be studying dinosaurs. When Mrs Morris was in Byron Bay she saw a sign that said there was dinosaur food growing in the area.

Have you ever seen a palm like this? Can you believe these plants have been around for millions of years?

Leo’s Holiday Fun!

Hi everyone! It’s me, Leo, and I’m here with a holiday update post!

I have been checking out the blog each day and lots of 2KM and 2KJ students and their families have been leaving comments. That makes me so happy! I know Miss Jordan and Mrs Morris will be impressed too. I thought I’d surpise them and write up a post so that they can relax and enjoy their break!

It’s been pretty cold here in Leopold. Luckily, I have a thick coat of fur to keep me cosy and I’ve been doing some exercise in the LINC to stay warm too. (I’ve also been sneaking into the staff room each night to have a hot chocolate with marshmallows, shhh!)

I have enjoyed skyping my great buddies Panda, Juan Pablo, Quiksilver and Ruckus. The classes they belong to are all on holidays too, so we’re keeping each other company.

I’ve been doing a lot of reading this week (I’ll definitely get my free time when school goes back!). My favourite book is still Cloudy with a Chance of Chicken.

P1030198

I’ve been over to the school foyer a few times to see if Mrs Hair, Mr Mac, or our new principal, Mr Donehue, were around. But I guess they’re enjoying the holidays too much because the place was empty!

Leo in foyer

The weather hasn’t been very nice lately, but the sun came out yesterday so I spent some time in the school friendship garden. It was lovely out there!

Don’t forget to check out the 2KM and 2KJ student blogs over the holidays. I am so proud of Charlotte, Millie, Jarrod and Haille! They’re doing a terrific job on their blogs and I know they’d love some comments!

Well, I have a few emails to write and then I might get out an iPod Touch and do some origami. Leave me a comment so I know what you’ve all been up to this week!

What has been your holiday highlight so far?

If you could take a holiday anywhere in the world, where would you go?

End of Term Two – Time for Holidays!

It has been a busy ten weeks in 2KM and 2KJ and today, Friday 1st July, is the last day of Term Two!

Here is a slideshow with some of our Term Two highlights…

As you can see, we had a great time in 2KM and 2KJ this term and we are all looking forward to a fun-filled Term Three!

Next term we are looking forward to the swimming program and learning about dinosaurs and science. A trip to the Melbourne Museum is also organised. We will continue using the netbooks in class and Mrs Morris and Miss Jordan have lots of fun activities planned.

We are all looking forward to a restful holiday and we’ll be back at school on Monday 18th July.

What did you enjoy about Term Two?

What are your holiday plans?

What are you looking forward to next term?

Back to School!

We are back to to school today, Wednesday 27th April. Today is also Miss Jordan’s birthday!

happy birthday

The students and teachers have enjoyed their two and a half week holiday.

What did Miss Jordan do on the holidays?

Miss Jordan had a great holiday and enjoyed eating a few Easter eggs!

In the first week, she visited her family (near Halls Gap) for a few days. It was nice and relaxing being in the “country” and her mum made lots of yummy home cooked meals! It’s fun having a pool but it wasn’t quite warm enough for a swim!

Kel's house

Miss Jordan also enjoyed spending time with friends at some cafes and restaurants in Geelong. She did lots of exercise, read a few books and spent time in the garden.

The highlight of Miss Jordan’s second week of holidays was going to Sydney to attend the Google Teacher Academy. Along with 50 other teachers from all around the world, (including Mr Limb), Miss Jordan learnt about lots of different Google educational tools. It was a fun and exciting few days! She is looking forward to using some of the Google tools in the classroom with 2KJ and 2KM.

What did Mrs Morris do on the holidays?

Mrs Morris enjoyed her holidays with her husband, Nate who is also a teacher. Mrs Morris and Nate spent some time at Nate’s parents’ farm near Phillip Island. There were cattle and fences to help out with on the farm and also plenty of time to read, cook, walk and relax.

Mrs Morris and Nate went to an engagement party where they had to dress up in a “onesie”. Mrs Morris was a skiier while Nate dressed up as a painter with a funny wig.

In the second week of the holidays, Mrs Morris and Nate went to Daylesford. They did lots of walking, eating and relaxing. Here is Mrs Morris in front of the Pioneer Memorial Tower in the Daylesford Botanical Gardens. Guess how many steps there were to get to the top?

Mrs Morris got her long hair cut short in the holidays! It is handy having a sister who is a hairdresser and it is always good to have a change.

A big highlight of the holidays was when Mrs Morris got an iPad 2! This will be useful in the classroom and Mrs Morris is enjoying learning all the things you can do with an iPad.

What did you do in the holidays?

Do you have any questions for Miss Jordan or Mrs Morris?

Leo’s Holiday Update

Hi boys and girls! It’s me, Leo.

Well, the holidays are about halfway over now. I miss everyone but I am having a lot of fun!

Here are some things I’ve been doing…

  • skyping my mascot buddies
  • playing Mathletics
  • reading lots of books
  • playing games on the IWB
  • replying to blog comments
  • watching movies (I watched “The Lion King” 5 times this week!)
  • eating lots of chocolate, ice cream and honey sandwiches 😳

Today I decided I should get out of the classroom. I walked down to the bus stop and went on an adventure!

When I got back I made a jigsaw puzzle out of one of my photos.

Can you solve the jigsaw puzzle and see where I went?

Click on the play button and time yourself by watching the clock on the left hand side.

Where do you think I went on my day out of the classroom?

How long did it take you to solve my jigsaw puzzle?
