We’re Back for Term Four!

Today is the first day of Term Four in Victoria, Australia .

It is the last term of school for us before our long summer holidays. When we return to school in February next year, the 2KM and 2KJ students will be in Grade Three!

*********************

It was terrific to hear that everyone in 2KM and 2KJ had a fantastic two week break. Over the holidays many students visited new places, went to the movies, enjoyed bike rides, saw their friends and watched Geelong win the AFL Grand Final!

***********************

We have two new students joining us for our final term. Dana is in 2KM and Morgan is in 2KJ.

Dana came from Mandama Primary School, where Mr D (our new principal) used to be the principal! Dana likes playing netball and she enjoys playing in her cubby house and on the trampoline with her younger sister, Lauren.

Morgan came from Nazareth Primary School. Morgan enjoys riding his bike, playing soccer and playing with his brother, Morrison and sister, April.

Here are Morgan and Dana with Leo!

Using Glogster

Over the past two days Miss Jordan and Mrs Morris showed some students how to use Glogster.

Glogster logo

Glogster is an online tool that allows you to make free interactive posters, or “glogs”. The word glog is short for graphical blog.

You can add text, images, photos, audio, video and special effects to create a glog, and finished glogs can be embedded into blogs so you can share them with everyone. Glogster is easy and fun to use!

Here are some glogs we made about our holidays.

July Holiday Fun!

Today, Monday 18th July, is the first day of Term Three here in Victoria, Australia.

Our July holidays went for two weeks and Geelong had some wet, windy and wintery weather!

Luckily Mrs Morris and her husband escaped this weather by heading to Byron Bay in northern New South Wales.

Do you know where Byron Bay is?

Here is a clue. In this photo Mrs Morris is standing in front of a sign that says “Most easterly point of the Australian mainland”.

Maybe you can figure out where Byron Bay would be on this map.

At Byron Bay, Mrs Morris and Nate enjoyed walking and running on the beach, bushwalking, eating delicious food, shopping, reading and relaxing.

Can you guess what these are?

On many of Mrs Morris and Nate’s walks they saw all sorts of flora and fauna. Flora means plants and fauna means wildlife or animals.

Leave a comment if you know what these animals are!

Dinosaur Food

This term, 2KM and 2KJ will be studying dinosaurs. When Mrs Morris was in Byron Bay she saw a sign that said there was dinosaur food growing in the area.

Have you ever seen a palm like this? Can you believe these plants have been around for millions of years?

Leo’s Holiday Fun!

Hi everyone! It’s me, Leo, and I’m here with a holiday update post!

I have been checking out the blog each day and lots of 2KM and 2KJ students and their families have been leaving comments. That makes me so happy! I know Miss Jordan and Mrs Morris will be impressed too. I thought I’d surpise them and write up a post so that they can relax and enjoy their break!

It’s been pretty cold here in Leopold. Luckily, I have a thick coat of fur to keep me cosy and I’ve been doing some exercise in the LINC to stay warm too. (I’ve also been sneaking into the staff room each night to have a hot chocolate with marshmallows, shhh!)

I have enjoyed skyping my great buddies Panda, Juan Pablo, Quiksilver and Ruckus. The classes they belong to are all on holidays too, so we’re keeping each other company.

I’ve been doing a lot of reading this week (I’ll definitely get my free time when school goes back!). My favourite book is still Cloudy with a Chance of Chicken.

I’ve been over to the school foyer a few times to see if Mrs Hair, Mr Mac, or our new principal, Mr Donehue, were around. But I guess they’re enjoying the holidays too much because the place was empty!

The weather hasn’t been very nice lately, but the sun came out yesterday so I spent some time in the school friendship garden. It was lovely out there!

Don’t forget to check out the 2KM and 2KJ student blogs over the holidays. I am so proud of Charlotte, Millie, Jarrod and Haille! They’re doing a terrific job on their blogs and I know they’d love some comments!

Well, I have a few emails to write and then I might get out an iPod Touch and do some origami. Leave me a comment so I know what you’ve all been up to this week!

What has been your holiday highlight so far?

If you could take a holiday anywhere in the world, where would you go?

End of Term Two – Time for Holidays!

It has been a busy ten weeks in 2KM and 2KJ and today, Friday 1st July, is the last day of Term Two!

Here is a slideshow with some of our Term Two highlights…

As you can see, we had a great time in 2KM and 2KJ this term and we are all looking forward to a fun-filled Term Three!

Next term we are looking forward to the swimming program and learning about dinosaurs and science. A trip to the Melbourne Museum is also organised. We will continue using the netbooks in class and Mrs Morris and Miss Jordan have lots of fun activities planned.

We are all looking forward to a restful holiday and we’ll be back at school on Monday 18th July.

What did you enjoy about Term Two?

What are your holiday plans?

A Question For Parents: How Did You Spend Your School Holidays?

This blog post is for parents and anyone else who would like to comment!

In Victoria, we only have one more week of school left before the holidays. It has been a very busy term in 2KM and 2KJ and everyone is looking forward to a relaxing two week break in July.

This got us thinking: How did you spend your holidays when you went to school?

************************

When Mrs Morris was younger, she used to go on long car trips with her family for holidays. They would drive to places like Cairns, Perth, Adelaide and Sydney. Sometimes these car trips would take a couple of days. There were no DVDs to watch back then so Mrs Morris and her sister used to enjoy drawing, playing with their barbies or playing games like “I Spy”.

************************

Miss Jordan grew up in the country, near Halls Gap. She would spend her school holidays riding bikes, making cubby houses, going on long bushwalks and playing with her sister, her brother and her cousins. Miss Jordan used to go Melbourne quite often with her family to visit her grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. She also enjoyed family holidays to many places in Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia.

Parents (and anyone else), please leave us a comment!

How did you spend your school holidays as a child?

How are school holidays different now compared to when you went to school?

Guest Post – Ebony

Last month Ebony was the 2KJ winner of our May Is Family Blogging Month competition. Part of her prize was that she won a guest post on our blog. Here it is!

Ebony Guest Post

Hi everyone my name is Ebony, and I was lucky enough to have won the ‘May is Family Blogging Month’ challenge for 2KJ. I was so excited to win! I love writing and colouring in, so I have just finished decorating thank you cards to all my family and friends that helped me win by leaving blog comments.

Today I want to tell you about the holiday I had in Queensland last year. We flew up with our family friends (Bradley from 2KM and his family) and it was the best holiday ever. I cannot wait to go back!

We went to the theme parks and I loved Dreamworld the most because I loved going on all the rides. My favourite ride was the Nickelodeon Rollercoaster. I went on it three times with my mum and dad and I screamed every time because it was so fast.

Here I am on a ride at Dreamworld.

The animals at Australia Zoo were amazing, watching the crocodile show was great and I even got to feed an elephant.

The dolphin show at Sea World was great even though it was raining. I wish I could have patted a dolphin but I did touch a baby stingray. It felt smooth but all slippery and slimy!

Clever dolphins.

When we stayed at the resort we swam in the pools. I love swimming. We swam at the beach too and my dad buried our legs in the sand!

We go camping in our caravan all the time but Mum and Dad said our next big family holiday will be to Fiji. I’ve only seen pictures of Fiji but I cannot wait to go!

I would love you to comment on my post. I am very good at replying!
