A Blogging Tip from Millie

Millie is one of the many fabulous student bloggers in 2KM and 2KJ. She loves leaving comments and having conversations with our blogging buddies all around the world.

Today Millie demonstrated an excellent blogging skill. This is a skill that Mrs Morris and Miss Jordan use themselves but haven’t yet had a chance to teach the class this year.

When Millie wrote up a comment, she copied it before pressing “submit” to make sure she didn’t lose her comment.

Here is how you do it:

1. Write your comment as normal.

2. Before you press “submit”, highlight all your text by putting your mouse in the comment box and pressing control A OR holding down your mouse button down and dragging it over all of your words.

3. Copy your text by right clicking and pressing copy OR pressing control C.

4. You don’t need to do anything else BUT if you lose your comment for some reason (internet crashes or you put in the wrong spam word) you won’t have lost your comment. You can just press paste (right mouse click – paste OR control V) and your comment will appear. Voila!

What do you think of this blogging tip?

What keyboard shortcuts do you use?

  1. Great tip, Millie – thanks for that! It is one that my students have been using when they are doing work on the Ultranet, just in case they get ‘timed out’. It’s definitely a very handy thing to get used to doing.

    • Dear Mrs Light,

I used this shortcut so I don’t lose it all and so that I don’t have to do it all over again it’s a good strategy.

      Happy blogging,

  2. Hi Millie and also all the other students 😎

What a fantastic and helpful tip.
We also use this tip at home.
    Thank you. 😆

  3. Dear 2km and 2kk
Wow Millie what great initiative and I.T. smart 😎
This was a great blogging tip and it was easy and quick to use!
I love using keyboard shortcuts (if my old brain can remember them ). It makes it quick and easy to help complete computer work.
A couple of examples of shortcuts that I would use include:
CTRL Z = undo last action
    CRTL B = Bold
    F7 = spellcheck and
    SHIFT + F12 = Save.
Mitchell and his brothers are often showing me new ways and shortcuts.
Keep up the good work everyone and have plenty of fun doing it!! 🙂
    Kind Regards,
    Dee (Mitchell’s Mum)

    • Dear Mum,

some times I forget to the shortcut way.
I never knew that you could use ctrl Z= under last action. 😳
good job for working that out.

      from Mitchell. 😛

  4. Hi Milly,
This is a fantastic blogging tip and I use it all the time as a teacher!

      Keira Haille’s friend in 2KJ. :80:

      • Dear Keira,

You wrote a great comment too! ☺ ☻ ♥
Yes I did help Roddy do that comment.

        Your class mate,
        Haille. 🙄

  5. Dear 2KJ and 2KM,

Hi everyone I always use that tip other wise it might disappear and I don’t want that to happen.

    Best Wishes,
    Love Eb♥ny

  6. Dear Millie,

Super tip! I must tell you that I have been foiled many times when I have forgotten to enter the spam code and consequently lost my entire comment! I learned the hard way about copying and saving. 🙁

Your tip will save many from that frustrating experience! You really are a super-blogger!

I have a Mac  computer and to copy the comment, like I am about to do with yours, I use similar keystrokes:

    ▶ Command⌘ + A = select all (my text will get highlighted)
    ▶ Command⌘ + C = copy

Happy Blogging and thanks again for that hot tip!

    Your pal,
    Mrs. Y♥llis

    • Hi Mrs Y♥llis,

It’s easy to copy and pasting for us because Mrs Morris and Miss Jordan copy it and paste it wile we look at mistakes that we did.

      Nice Regards
      Millie 😆

I think everyone is doing great too.

Mrs Morris and Miss Jordan are doing great at teaching us.

  8. Brilliant post. I learned this the hard way, of course, and it’s a great idea to post about it so others can learn it the ‘easy’ way. 🙂

By the way, I came via a tweet by one of your teachers – Mrs Morris.

If I may suggest, include this tip in your Learning about Blogging page, perhaps under Commenting.

    Mrs Mawby

    • @ Mrs Mawby,

Thanks for your great comment! We always love to hear from different people. 🙂

What a great point about including this tip on our commenting page. Thank you so much for the suggestion! I will put that on my to-do list 😆

      Best wishes,
      Mrs M☀rris

I am new at writing blog comments and I am learning how to do something new each time

    Dianne 🙂

    • Dear Dianne,

Hi it’s a great tip to use when your writing and when you lose it you go right click then paste.

We really like this strategy because if you lose it you ctrl v.

      Your pal,

    • Dear Dianne,

      Awesome comment ❗

      From your class pal,
      Zac

  18. @ Millie,

What a great idea. I use that short cut all the time when copying and pasting but haven’t yet for the blog, I might have to start trying that tip starting today. I do use it to copy and paste the HTML codes as it saves time typing them all the time. 🙂

One of my favourtie short cuts is ctrl home or ctrl end for when I want to get to the top or bottom of the page especailly the blog to look at the post agian or the questions asked and then return to my comment.

    Keep up the great work,
    Melane (Jarr☀d’s Mum)

    • Hi Melane,

I think it’s a fantastic tip to use when writing a comment on the blog.

I use short cuts too I use copy and paste, F5, ctrla, ctrlv and ctrlf.

I got that fantastic tip from Millie

this tip is interesting and I might use it everytime I write a comment at home and school.

      Your blogging buddie in 2KM

      • @ Andrew,

It’s good to see you know so many short cuts already. 😎

love short cuts on the computer as they save me so much time at work and at home.

        Keep up the great work,
        Melane (Jarr☀d’s Mum)

  19. Hi 2KM and 2KJ

Have you guys ever had an author on your blog?
Why?/what did you do that made the author come on.
